Pareto
Chart Screen Features
The Pareto Chart screen displays a bar chart that ranks the relative contribution of component uncertainties to the total combined
measurement uncertainty. Each component uncertainty is weighted in accordance with its magnitude and the extent that it is correlated with other uncertainties. The
Pareto Chart screen is accessed from UncertaintyAnalyzer's principle
screens and from worksheets that account for multiple error
components. Some examples include digital sampling error,
environmental error, stress response error, computation error, and user
defined error.
Because of the fact that certain error sources may be correlated with others, the percent contribution of a component uncertainty to the total combined uncertainty cannot be obtained by simply dividing the component uncertainty by the total uncertainty and multiplying by 100.
Instead, the percent contribution is obtained by extracting each component uncertainty in turn and computing the impact on the total.
Various
display, copying and printing options are described below.
Copy Menu
There are four options for copying data to the Windows clipboard and pasting it in external applications or elsewhere within UncertaintyAnalyzer.
If you select a range of cells from the table, clicking Selected Cells copies these cells to the Windows clipboard. If you click All Cells, all the data in the table will be copied to the clipboard. Selecting Table copies the contents of the table, along with the column headings, to the clipboard. Selecting Diagram copies the bar chart to the clipboard.
View Menu
The View Menu provides three options for viewing the results of the Pareto analysis: Selecting Table and Diagram displays the tabulated results and the Pareto diagram. Selecting Table Only hides the diagram and displays only the tabulated results. Selecting Diagram Only hides the tabulated results and displays the Pareto Diagram with the error components labeled.
The
Pareto chart table contains the error component name, the uncertainty estimate category (e.g., Type A , B or AB) and the % weighted contribution to the total combined uncertainty.
Diagram Menu
Six options are available from the Diagram Menu for displaying the Pareto diagram: 3D, Flat, Gray Background, Clear Background, Horizontal and Vertical. These options are provided to allow whatever style of presentation you desire for the Pareto Analysis Results Report or when copying the Pareto diagram to Analysis Descriptions, offline reports and other documents. |
