Free Analytical Metrology Software Tools

Our freeware contain key benchmark methods developed by ISG.  We believe that these free measurement uncertainty analysis, measurement decision risk analysis and calibration interval analysis applications will help promote the use of valid and effective methods and techniques.

Unlike other metrology freeware, our free software applications are actively updated and supported by established experts in the field of analytical metrology.  You don't have to join a user forum or send us any of your personal information to download and run them.  Just click on the analysis topic below to access the download page.

We hope you find these freeware applications both useful and informative.  If you have any questions or comments about these analysis tools, please call us at 1-661-872-1683 or e-mail us at tech@isgmax.com.

Uncertainty Analysis

Uncertainty Sidekick makes rigorous calculation and analysis of measurement uncertainty possible in a freeware application.  Uncertainty Sidekick incorporates the concepts and methods presented in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM).  Uncertainty Sidekick contains an interactive procedure checklist to guide you through the process of developing uncertainty estimates for direct measurement scenarios.  Uncertainty Sidekick's screens and worksheets are designed to facilitate the uncertainty calculation process.

Type B Uncertainty Calculator is a stand-alone tool that organizes your experience and knowledge in such a way that a Type B uncertainty estimate can be calculated in a straightforward and unambiguous manner.  In addition to taking some of the mystery out of Type B uncertainty calculation, this freeware application also computes the associated degrees of freedom.  This means that Type B uncertainty estimates can be used as statistics, just like Type A uncertainty estimates.

Risk Analysis

RiskGuard 2.0 provides both "program-level" and "bench-level" analyses of false accept risk for a wide variety of calibration or testing scenarios.  RiskGuard also determines guardband or "test" limits that correspond to a specified maximum allowable false accept risk to facilitate compliance with ANSI/NCSL Z540.3.

SPCLimits develops control limits that are keyed to a specified acceptable level of measurement decision risk that would be present if the measurement process is used to test or calibrate a specific device parameter.

Calibration Interval Analysis
Method A3 Interval Tester, reported in the 1996 edition of NCSL's RP-1, is a tool for controlling and adjusting calibration intervals for small sized equipment inventories.
