Subject
Parameter Bias and Measuring Parameter Bias
Uncertainty Worksheets
The parameter bias uncertainty worksheets provide a very useful tool
for evaluating measurement uncertainty due to subject parameter bias and
measuring parameter bias. The subject parameter and measuring parameter
description, measuring areas, measuring units and other relevant details
can be input into the Subject Parameter Bias Uncertainty Worksheet and
the Measuring Parameter Bias Uncertainty Worksheet, respectively.
These uncertainty analysis worksheets are accessed by clicking
the Subject Parameter Bias or Measuring Parameter Bias
button on the Main Screen Error Source list.
These worksheets can also be accessed by selecting Subject
Parameter or Measuring Parameter from the Tolerances
menu on the Main Screen Menu Bar.
The worksheets provide more
flexibility for defining the subject parameter and measuring parameter and
for estimating measurement uncertainty due to biases in these quantities. The
left side of the Bias Uncertainty Worksheets contain a list of
procedures and associated information for inputting data.
Item and Parameter data can be entered directly into the Worksheet or
imported from the built-in Instrument
Database.
Measurement uncertainty estimates for parameter bias can be developed for reference standards, toleranced
parameters, or from information about expected containment limits.
Parameter tolerance specifications can be combined linearly or by the root-sum-square
(RSS)
method. In addition, the built-in SpecMaster Worksheet provides a
powerful tool for determining tolerances for parameters with complex
specifications.
The user can choose from an extensive
list of distributions for describing the statistical characteristics of the
parameter biases. Supported distributions include: Normal, Lognormal,
Exponential, Quadratic, Cosine, U-Shaped, Uniform
(rectangular), Triangular, and Student's t. Plots of these distributions are displayed in the
Worksheet to assist in developing parameter bias uncertainty estimates. |
