Test or calibration
service history data are imported into the IntervalMAX Cumulative History
database for analysis. The interface between IntervalMAX and an external
file or database is defined using the Edit Import Profile Screen, which
is accessed by clicking the New button or by
selecting the configuration on the Profiles list and clicking the Edit
button on the Import
Configuration Screen. Brief descriptions of the
features and functions for the Edit Import Profile Screen tabs are given below.
Profile Data
The Profile Name is the label by which an Import Configuration is
identified. It may be any text string up to fifteen characters in
length. The Database Type (optional) refers to the data base
application with which the external data are maintained. The types of
external file formats supported by IntervalMAX are selected from a dropdown
list and include:
Microsoft
Access 2000 and earlier
dBase III and IV
Microsoft Excel 3.0 and 4.0
Microsoft Excel 5.0 and 95
Microsoft Excel 97 and 2000
Lotus 1-2-3 WK1
Lotus 1-2-3 WK3
Lotus 1-2-3 WK4

The External
Data File is the full directory path and file name for the data file from which data will be
imported. The location may be typed or selected by browsing the workstation or network on which the
external data file resides. The Record Source is the table or other object of the External Data File where the service history records are kept.
The Password (optional) is entered for password protected
files.
When importing from spreadsheet or delimited text files, the field names should be the first row of the file.
If so, the First Row Contains Headers box should be checked. For imports from delimited text files, the character that separates the data fields is called the
Text Delimiter.
The Connect String is a key that participates in unlocking access to the database or file containing the data to be imported. The Connect String is created by IntervalMAX for the selected Database Type when the
Make Connect String button is pressed. If all data have been entered correctly, text will be shown for the Database Name, the RecordSource Name and the Connect String.
